We had a fun week learning about Johnny Appleseed. We watched a movie about him and then we learned about different kinds of apples and got to taste them all!

5 Senses

This week we focused on our 5 senses. We learned a song about our senses and also had fun smelling and tasting a variety of foods from lemons and pickles to spicy chips and marshmellows.

We also learned how to be a good friend and to be kind to others.

We are excited to start a new school year! We have so much fun planned. In the month of September we spend time getting to know each other and the classroom routine. We will work on getting the classroom "normalized." Normalization is a term used in the Montessori classroom to describe the process where young children learn to focus and concentrate for sustained periods of time, while deriving self-satisfaction from their work. We are excited to start our first ever blog so we can give the parents a glimpse into the classroom. As always, parents are invited to come into the classroom and observe, but we thought this would give you more of a daily feel for what your children experience.
